2023 Juneteenth Celebrations in Pikes Peak Region
Juneteenth is a celebration of the emancipation of Black Americans 157 years ago. On June 19, 1865, Major General Gordon Granger issued the order to end the cruel and inhumane practice of slavery in the United States. Also called Freedom Day.

Screenagers: Next Chapter movie, is the next movie in the Screenagers series. Filmmaker and physician Delaney Ruston uses a personal lens and professional eye to help us all flip the script on stress, anxiety, and depression. Delaney shares how she finds herself at a loss on how to help her own teens as they struggle with their emotional wellbeing and sets out to understand these challenges in our current screen-filled society, and how we as parents and schools empower teens to overcome mental health challenges and build emotional agility, communication savvy, and stress resilience.

2023 Ice Festival, Returns
When: February 18-26, 2023. Where: Cripple Creek, Colorado
We are excited to have some of the top carving teams in the country attending this event including SNICE Carving, Cool Hand Ice, The Bear Spot, The Ice Farm and others. Carvers will compete in a stadium setting for a $1,000 cash prize each weekend and doing their best to win the People’s Choice Award for an overall cash prize of $5,000. Carvers will be working throughout the event on their sculptures.
Activities, vendors, and head-to-head carving competitions will only take place on the weekends (Feb 18-20 and Feb 25&26) including President’s Day. The vendor and activities will happen between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.
There will be kids activities at the Cripple Creek District Museum and indoor fun at Creations Everlasting. Come out with the family, support local, as always this event is FREE and open to the general public. Dress warm and enjoy this incredible event.

Red Ribbon Week 2022
Every year Red Ribbon Week is celebrated in school districts across the country and locally. The national theme this year is “Celebrate Life Live Drug Free.” This theme was created by 7th graders at Wayland-Cohocton Middle School in Wayland, NY. The theme is a reminder that everyday Americans across the country make significant daily contributions to their communities by being the best they can be because they live Drug-Free! Ask your children what activities may be going on in their schools or find out how your school is participating in substance use prevention efforts to support young people in our community.
